HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Housing Services
In a 14-county region of south central Pennsylvania, FHCCP funds 11 subcontractor agencies that provide prevention education and interventions, medical, supportive and housing for infected and affected persons and families. Our prevention efforts are targeted toward high-risk groups and reducing stigma in our area for those who are and could be infected. We provide HIV specialty care in both Lancaster and Harrisburg and work with other providers in the region to get and keep clients in care. Supportive services such as medical case management, transportation and linguistics are also available in our region as well as financial assistance for health insurance costs and life emergencies. Housing Opportunity for People with AIDS (HOPWA) is a program that provides rental and/or mortgage assistance to those infected and affected with HIV/AIDs. This program currently serves about 350 clients within our region.
In addition, FHCCP develops strategic regional plans, identifies gaps and barriers to providing and receiving HIV/AIDS services, and partners with consumers and providers in the region to enhance service delivery. We host several consumer groups a year recognizing how critical it is to utilize consumer input to improve and properly manage services in our region.
